Shades of Pink October - McCall 7125 Bias Cut Blouse

This shirt perfectly displays the magic of bias cuts.
The movement, the ease, the flow.

I'm liking this "add color to my closet" purchase that I made.
I did not make the jeans but I've been finding tops and fabrics that pair well with it.
Including this blouse made from McCall pattern 7125.

Throwback Thursday

Nothing Like a Good Throwback Thursday!

I love this shirt.  It is still the reigning champion of being my favorite shirt.  The fit, the fabric.  It’s so comfortable, so colorful, and I love how I feel in it.  This blouse was debuted in a post a few years ago.  But today, I decided to pair it with a colorful denim jean, which is outside of my comfort zone.  And I have to admit, that I’m happy to have taken that step.

Here’s to throwbacks!

Simple Additions

Sometimes you just want a simple addition to your wardrobe.  Maybe something to wear to church.  Or a brunch date with the girls.   I’ve made a dress in a very similar fashion before here.  I used one pattern piece to create it.  The back pattern piece to McCall's 6563.  I slashed-and-spread the front for more room, but this dress was essentially made with one piece.  The khaki cover was a remake of this post.  Together, I now have a simple addition to my wardrobe that is comfortable and easy to accessorize.

Replicating A Ready to Wear Boat Neck Top

You know those moments when you are searching through your closet and you find something that you haven't worn in SO long?  Or maybe you forgot it even existed?  I had one of those moments last month.  I was searching through my closet looking for a top, and I found a simple knit top that I haven't worn in a few years.  I tried it on to see if it worked well with the skirt I wanted to wear that day.  It didn't.  BUT!!!! I was reminded of why I bought the shirt to begin with....

I LOVED THAT NECKLINE!!

McCalls 6442 - My First Coat

This was my first ever coat. I wanted something feminine and dressy even though I have nowhere to wear it right now.

Mixing and Matching with Butterick 5101

I am not big on wearing pink, but this dusty rose seemed to speak softly to me.  It was one of those random finds from years ago.  You know those fabrics that have no label, but it feels good to the touch.  It reminds me of crepe, but it has a smoother texture.  And like I said, the color was whispering sweet nothings into my ear in hopes that I would take it home.  And I did.

Cocoon Cardigan from Patterns 4 Pirates (P4P)

In the south, when the calendar says October, that means we have absolutely no idea what to wear.  The transition period between summer and winter clothes involves several months of having ALL of your clothes easily accessible.  You can wear a tank top, capris and sandals on Monday but be in a hoodie, jeans and boots on Tuesday.

Layering is fundamental during these times and a cardigan is always an excellent choice.

Working it Out with Patterns for Pirates (P4P)

I swear I love my Facebook Groups.   My FB sewing groups are full of inspiration, motivation and information.  Because of them, I have learned all types of tips, tricks, techniques, online fabric stores, and independent pattern companies outside of "The Big 4" (Simplicity, Butterick, McCalls and Vogue).

One of those independent pattern companies is Patterns for Pirates (P4P).  I learned about this company while admiring the posts of Knitpop's FB group.  Once I joined the P4P group, my timeline began to flood with Peg Legs and Raglan tops and other patterns from the P4P collection!   I felt left out so I had to get in on the action.  With that being said, introducing my first P4P ensemble!

Simplicity 8160 - Knitpop Tank Top....and unmentionables

I was introduced to Tri-Blend fabric last year, thanks to Knitpop.  I ordered 2 yards along with several other types of fabric, in order to become familiar with the differences in feel/texture/flow.  This Tri-Blend fabric is heaven!  It makes me want to escape to my place of tranquility with some popcorn and a huge glass of sweet tea (the freshly brewed kind, not that other stuff from the grocery stores).

Have you ever had any piece of clothing that you LOVED….too much?
