Working it Out with Patterns for Pirates (P4P)

I swear I love my Facebook Groups.   My FB sewing groups are full of inspiration, motivation and information.  Because of them, I have learned all types of tips, tricks, techniques, online fabric stores, and independent pattern companies outside of "The Big 4" (Simplicity, Butterick, McCalls and Vogue).

One of those independent pattern companies is Patterns for Pirates (P4P).  I learned about this company while admiring the posts of Knitpop's FB group.  Once I joined the P4P group, my timeline began to flood with Peg Legs and Raglan tops and other patterns from the P4P collection!   I felt left out so I had to get in on the action.  With that being said, introducing my first P4P ensemble!

Simplicity 8160 - Knitpop Tank Top....and unmentionables

I was introduced to Tri-Blend fabric last year, thanks to Knitpop.  I ordered 2 yards along with several other types of fabric, in order to become familiar with the differences in feel/texture/flow.  This Tri-Blend fabric is heaven!  It makes me want to escape to my place of tranquility with some popcorn and a huge glass of sweet tea (the freshly brewed kind, not that other stuff from the grocery stores).

Welcome to 2017!

Yes, I have a new blog name!  But only the name has changed, everything else remains the same. Except I hope to post more this year and be more forward thinking about taking photos as I progress with each project.

The Warmth of Autumn - A Southern Thang

Those of us who live in the South are very familiar with warm Thanksgivings.  Some of us have been lucky enough to have even worn shorts for Christmas.  This November has had a few sporadic cold days but I wanted to make one last attempt to take advantage of a warm day in 2016.

Butterick 5316

I’m not a follower of the bodycon dress trend.  My confidence level will not allow me to be comfortable in one without a girdle.  And I haven’t been in the mood to wear a girdle(s) in a very long time.  But I do like a fit that is flattering and shows off a little curvature.

Nicole Miller Meets Simplicity 8140

I have fallen victim to loving me some Nicole Miller fabric!  These fabric choices are sure to bankrupt my sewing budget, but luckily I have a job to support my fabric addiction!  Nicole Miller does it again with this super silky, eye catching fabric to give you a Ready-to-Wear and Off-the-Rack look, with a Made-with-Love fit.

Project Runway At Home Challenge - Season 14 - Week 3

Over the past years, I have joined several Facebook groups for sew-cialists.   Last fall, a group was started for a Project Runway At Home Challenge of which I participated in for a few weeks.   Last fall, I posted the Week 1 challenge….on time.   This post is about the challenge presented on the 3rd episode of Season 14.  Competitors were paired and given an exotic location which would be their inspiration.  They were to make an outfit that could provide two different looks.  Of the locations, I chose The Greek Isles.

Longing for Something New (Part 2 of 2)

And here we are….Part 2 of my extremely late posts “Longing for Something New”.  I still say better late than never.  As I mentioned before, I was inspired to return to the long vest pieces when I came across some pictures from an up and coming blogger from my home town. (Check out  Young at Styles)

Longing for Something New! (Part 1 of 2)

This is a late post (yes a late post of two parts), but I wanted to still share.  Better late than never, right??  A rising star in the world of blogging has posted a plethora of fashionable outfits that have caught my eye, this one in particular....

Tried and True - Submission #2

Today I would like to introduce you guys to another TNT pattern of mine.  This pattern was featured in my very first blog post (Drape Necks).  My love for this pattern is as simple as its design and construction.
